2011 -12

Rotary-BRDB Trust efforts extended to assisting BRDB in their golf and charity dinner fund-raising events which brought in nearly RM800,000 in donations for the Abandoned Children’s Home project.

Living & Learning Aids project was road trip to Gua Musang, to give out learning aids, hearing aids, wheelchairs and visual aids (spectacles) to hundreds of deserving children.
RCC Sungai Lui English Language Carnival coupled with Free Medical Clinic mustered 20 Rotarians and 10 Rotaractors, who organized nearly 500 visitors from the Sungai Lui area.

For Community Service, our Free Medical Clinic registered over 300 residents for free medical examination, advice, basic medication and food. Annual scholastic financial support totaling RM36,000 was given to 9 schools to help fund books, shoes and uniforms for the underprivileged primary school children.

For New Generations, the Interact Leadership Training Seminar (ILTS) saw over 100 Interact Club Board members where we included Interact Club of Seri Bintang Selatan (although we have not yet submitted the charter paperwork) and 3 Youthact Clubs.

Interactors organized Flash Mob Dance at Bangsar Shopping Center to promote awareness of “World Environment Week”. Rotary Kuala Lumpur Model United Nations (ROTKULMUN) was held for 100+ Interactors & students from 7 different schools.

Rotary Research Awards & Banquet graced by our Royal Patron – HRH Sultan of Selangor gave the medallions to the 14 deserving researchers.

Celebrated our Club Charter Day on 15th January 2012 with a look back in history, researched and delivered by PDG Dato’ Jimmy Lim. Plaque was enacted at The Heart

Foundation of Malaysia to commemorate the founding of the Foundation as a project initiated by RC KL DiRaja in 1982.

For TRF, our Club received D3300 recognition for the highest giving at Club level which totaled USD61,000 this RY and placed 2nd for average giving per capita.

For International Service, the 2nd joint project with Rotary Club of Nunawading delivered for Down Syndrome Children’s Learning Disabilities Camp.

Annual Golf Friendly with Rotary Club of Raffles City at Tropicana Golf Club where for 4th year in a row, our Club was declared the winner.

For Membership Development, we added 4 new members to close RY2011-2012 with 101 members.

For Fellowship, we had 3 Club Assemblies, and at the Hari Raya Fellowship, our members invited children from several hand-picked Muslim orphanages.
