Hosted the 69th District Conference. Organised a festival of music for 3 days commencing on 23 February 2004 in the City Hall Auditorirum reflecting all 4 avenues of service as a Centennial Project approved by Rotary International to promote traditional instrumental music to celebrate the first day the 100th year of Rotary. 160 boys and girls between 10 years and 23 year took part. The winning teams in each the Malay, Chinese, Indian and Sabah / Sarawak sections were given cash prizes and were sent to play in a community service concert in Singapore hosted by the Rotary Club of Singapore. US$ 7,500 neet proceeds was sent to Rotary International for the PolioPlus project. This project won the District award for best project in the service to New Generations sections. Revamped and revitalised the club website. Send weekly bulletins by electronic mail to members for the first time. Our club won the best website district award. Food parcels and essentials for flood victims in Baling, Kedah, worth RM 32,000 were sent and assistance was given to earthquake victims in Bam, Iran, worth RM 11,500. Both sums were raised from the floor at our regular lunch meetings. Carried out a joint project to treat 16 poor persons with eye problems with a Rotafom matching grant with the Rotary Club of Greentown, Ipoh. Disbursed RM 2,051,481 and interest thereon to the newly incorporated Magnum Rotary Trust, a trust corporation to buy land and construct a home for abandoned children. The money was raised in previous years. Essential equipment worth RM 3,000 each donated to 5 handicapped welfare funds. A feeding programme at RM 1.25 for lunch per child for 20 poor 7-years old children for 4 months at the Sekolah Rendah Tamil in Sentul was carried out to enable them to attend Science & Maths classed in the afternoon. Scholarships of RM 200 each amounting to RM 18,000 from the scholarships funds were given to 90 children from 5 low income areas primary schools nominated by the Director of Education and the school head teachers. Donated a van worth RM 40,000 to PERKOBP to assist youth with learning difficulties. Held Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and Deepavali fellowships. Continued wheelchair project from last year. Applied the attendance rule to improve the quality and strength of the club as functioning unit.
