The year was started with establishing several funds such as the Sylia Hyams Fund (RM70,970.00), the justin prem Hamilton Medical Fund (RM85,760.00) the Student Welfare fund 2000 (RM125,000.00) and the National Stoke Association of Malaysia Phytotherapy Clinic (RM50,000.00)
Several Memorandum of Understandings were signed this year beginning with RCKL-HELP Institute "Partnership-In-Service"worth RM60,000.00 which is a revolving fund to assist student to complete their tertiary education. For the first time RCKL Diraja signed an MOU with a Government body. This was with the Datuk bandar of Kuala Lumpur at The launch of Preserve Planet Earth - KL City project. Both parties had mutually agreed to work together to promote the principles of good government and good citizenship and to take an acitve interest in the environmental awareness, preservation of the environment, civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community for the next two years. In a Joint Project with sister club RC Hatyai Nakarin an MOU was signed to provide clean drinking water to some 1000 villagers in Thailand. The fourth MOU the largest project undertaken by the club is a joint venture with corporate giant to establish the Magnum Rotary Home for Abandoned Children (RM3 million). The CEO of Magnum Dato'Lim Kim Wah gave the initial sum of one million to the Club on April 19,2000.
During this Rotary Year donations were also made to the following: Turkish Earthquake Relief Fund (RM5,000.00), Taiwan Earthquake Victims (RM12,000.00), Orissa Cyclone Relief Fund (RM10,000.00) and the Mongolian Disaster Relief Fund (RM5,480.00) Hosted the Millenium Conference for District 3300 where more than one thousand Rotarians, Anns and Guests had registered. The Guests of Honour was the PM, Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed and Rotary International Representative Glen Kinross.
